The original owner of the cabinet said it was to never be opened because it contained a dibbuk and keselim. The box made its way to the United States where it was bought in an estate sale and from there the legend took off. She is the former Executive Vice President of the Association for Past Life Research and Therapies, she has been a trainer for the Professional Institute of Regression Therapy, and she was a board member and presenter for the Center for Crop Circle Studies in Los Angeles, California.
